Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Dallas is seeking a Mechanical/Interior Design Engineer to support interior and structural modifications for aircraft. You will prepare detailed drawings, coordinate with suppliers and regulatory agencies, and help define specifications and SOWs.

The role requires at least 5 years of aviation design experience, proficiency in 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD, CATIA, NX), and strong communication skills. Collaboration across cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of practical mechanical design experience in aviation.
  • Proficient in creating 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD, CATIA, NX.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of FAA, EASA and TCCA certification rules.
  • Familiarity with electrical wiring diagrams and wire routings.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare documentation to support interior and structural modification drawings, assemblies, and substantiation reports.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, internal teams, and regulatory agencies for design, installation, integration, and certification of interior components.
  • Research specifications for component selection and coordinate with suppliers to meet specs.
  • Support creation of statements of work and bids for new customer requests.
  • Assist service center personnel in troubleshooting and resolving build/modification/test issues; create deviation drawings as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Prepare all necessary documents to support the interior and structural modification of Bombardier aircraft such as detail, assembly and installation drawings, specification documents and substantiation reports.
  • Coordinate with outside suppliers, internal departments and regulatory agencies regarding the design, installation, integration, and certification of new interior components to support floorplan changes.
  • Research specifications for component selection. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure specifications are met.
  • Support statement of work creation and bids for new customer requests.
  • Assist service center personnel in investigating, troubleshooting, and resolution of build/modification and test issues and create deviation drawings as required.
  • Work in a team environment.
How to thrive in this role?
  • You have a minimum of 5 or more years of practical mechanical design experience in aviation.
  • You have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent (highly preferred).
  • You must be proficient in creating mechanical drawings using both 2D and 3D drafting/modeling software (AutoCad, CATIA, NX).
  • You must be a self-starter and able to handle multiple initiatives effectively.
  • You must exhibit excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • You must effectively communicate design intent and design resolution.
  • You have a working knowledge of applicable regulatory certification rules (FAA, EASA, TCCA).
  • You have a working knowledge of electrical wiring diagrams and wire routings.
  • You are proficient with MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access).
  • You should be an organized individual, able to work effectively with a variety of cross-functional individuals, departments, and organizations while maintaining a good attitude and professional disposition.
