Job summary

Bombardier in Wichita is seeking a Senior Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to join the Learjet team. You will lead mechanical design activities for aircraft systems, coordinate with vendors and internal groups, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, and strong MS Office skills. You will work on modifications across Learjets, Challengers, and Global aircraft in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of mechanical design engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of FAA, EASA, and TCCA certification rules.
  • Familiarity with CFR Part 25 aircraft design requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare specifications, mechanical drawings, and reports for aircraft mechanical system modifications.
  • Collaborate with vendors, internal departments, and other engineering disciplines on design engineering for Learjets, Challengers, and Global aircraft.
  • Support change management through research, concepts, design reviews, trade studies, impact analysis, and implementation.
  • Research specifications for components and work with suppliers to resolve build/test issues.
  • Support statement of work and bids for new customer requests.
  • Review supplier and internal Work Package documentation.
  • Coordinate configurations and requirements for optional systems on the aircraft.
  • Provide extensive coordination with suppliers and internal support groups.
  • Work in a team environment; provide input to root cause analyses and proposed solutions.
  • Define requirements, develop new designs and perform engineering duties to see projects to completion.

What are your contributions to the team?

How to thrive in this role?
  • You hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years working in mechanical design engineering capacity.
  • You have extensive knowledge of applicable regulatory certification rules (FAA, EASA, TCCA)
  • You have a knowledge of mechanical system design requirements for CFR Part 25 aircraft.
  • You have working knowledge of aircraft materials, standard parts and procedures required.
  • You must be able to define requirements, develop new designs and perform engineering duties to see projects and programs to completion
  • You must be able to provide input to technical solutions on a wide range of problems
  • You must be a self-starter, able to decompose moderately complex projects into individual tasks and processes.
  • You must exhibit excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • You should be an organized individual, able to work effectively with a variety of cross-functional individuals, departments and organizations with a general good attitude and disposition
  • You must be proficient with MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access)
