Job summary

Performance Contracting Group seeks an experienced Mechanical Insulation Estimator for the PCI Madison 574 operations based in Sun Prairie, WI. You will create comprehensive estimates for bidding prospective mechanical insulation work and collaborate with project teams.

The role requires 3–5 years’ estimating experience, strong customer relations, and proficiency with takeoff/estimating software (On-Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid) plus MS Office and Bluebeam Procore.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience estimating construction projects
• Experience with estimating or managing specialty scopes
• Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret specifications and drawings
• Has a record of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills
• Possess a high level of attention to detail and cost analysis skills
• Ability to accurately read project schedules to determine sequencing and durations of scopes of work
• Proficiency with computer takeoff and estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g., Excel, Word), Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift
• Must have a sharp understanding of estimating techniques and the bidding process
• Ability to work effectively both in a collaborative team environment and independently
• Ability to learn new skills by engaging in technical job functions and applying new skills as they’re learned
• Possess critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects
• Establish labor productivities for estimate
• Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing
• Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-performing group
• Understand the market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level or risk for work, and other factors for establishing margin percentages
• Involvement in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project teams
• Participate in customer alignment objectives by creating and maintaining positive customer relations
• Contract administration for secured projects
• Utilize wage and benefit schedules
• Hand off secured projects to the Operations Team
• Assist in other duties as assigned such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s)
• Support other members of the Estimating team for product line collaboration
