Amazon Prime Air is seeking a Mechanical Hardware Development Engineer to help design, qualify, and document avionics hardware for drone systems. You will collaborate with vendors, mature designs, and support manufacturing to deliver scalable, safe, and cost-effective hardware solutions for next‑gen delivery.

The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering with 4+ years of applicable experience, CAD proficiency, and familiarity with DO‑160 qualification.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the development of Prime Air drone avionics hardware and related systems. In this role you will be working to develop, mature and document designs, test and qualify avionics components, and work with external vendors to support manufacturing.

Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon's ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf

Key job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience in manual testing, test planning, and creating detailed test cases
• Experience with CAD software for use in design, drafting, and product lifecycle management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
• Experience in electronics and/or aerospace hardware.
• CATIA/ENOVIA experience.
• DO-160 qualification and aerospace formal verification experience.
• Experience with requirements development and documentation.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
