Job summary

Sealed Air Corporation in Massachusetts is seeking a mechanically inclined General Assembler to join our equipment production team in Ayer. You will assemble mechanical components and sub-assemblies according to blueprints and work instructions, using hand and power tools.

The ideal candidate has basic mechanical knowledge, can read blueprints, lift up to 40 lbs, and commit to a safe, efficient manufacturing environment. Morning shift with potential overtime and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, preferred.
• Mechanically inclined with basic knowledge of tools and equipment.
• Ability to use hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, etc.).
• Ability to read basic blueprints or willingness to learn.
• Understanding of basic hardware (metric and standard).
• Good hand–eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Previous manufacturing or assembly experience, 1 to 2 years preferred.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems or automotive repair.
• Familiarity with torque specifications and measuring tools.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Understanding of electrical wiring and schematics, preferred.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Teamwork and communication skills.
• Time management.
• Willingness to learn and grow within the company.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical parts and sub‑assemblies using hand and power tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and follow work instructions.
• Install components such as brackets, fasteners, bearings, and hardware.
• Perform basic measurements using tape measures, calipers, and gauges.
• Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy and quality.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
• Assist senior assemblers as needed.
• Report defects, material shortages, or equipment issues to supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.
