Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical systems and components.
  • CAD-based layout and design for parts and assemblies.
  • Creation of 2D drawings for fabrication parts and assemblies.
  • Creation of fully constrained 3D parametric models.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical design support for research programs, collaborating with R&D engineers and support teams.
  • Create intermediate 3D solid models for parts, assemblies, and COTS parts per standards.
  • Create 2D drawings and BOMs for fabrication using accepted methods.
  • Resolve design, material, and component issues.
  • Perform Service Center functions including documentation control, copying, archiving (.stp and .x_t), and database entry.
  • Provide work status updates to senior staff and engineers; participate in meetings and design reviews.
  • Utilize ARL’s PLM (Teamcenter) for configuration management and archiving of design docs.
  • Keep up with required compliance training for business systems, safety, and security.
  • Build knowledge of design software features, standards, and ASME Y14.5.
