Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University’s Applied Research Laboratory in State College, PA is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Designer to support research programs with drafting and 3-D modeling. Qualifications

  • Associate degree in engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years of relevant mechanical design experience.
  • No required certifications listed in the posting.
  • Familiarity with DoD security considerations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical design support for research programs.
  • Create intermediate 3D solid models for parts and COTS.
  • Create 2D detail drawings and BOMs for fabrication of parts/assemblies.
  • Resolve issues related to design, material and components.
  • Perform documentation control, archiving (.stp and .x_t), and database entry.
  • Provide work status updates to senior staff and engineers; participate in meetings and design reviews.
  • Utilize Teamcenter PLM for configuration management and archiving of design documents.
  • Maintain compliance training related to business systems, safety, and security.
  • Build knowledge of design software features, ASME Y14.5 standards.
