Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) in State College, PA seeks a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to support R&D of new materials, fabrication methods, and testing across ceramics, metals, and composites. This on-site role advances projects in collaboration with a diverse team of engineers and scientists.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 3+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination
  • Experience in mechanical design, fabrication, testing and documentation
  • Experience in an industrial environment and working with diverse materials

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to plan and execute technical projects
  • Coordinate lab and field activities including testing, repair, fabrication, and machining
  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, and computer systems into manufacturing processes
  • Contribute to proposals, white papers, presentations and reports
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve goals
