Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to support R&D in materials, manufacturing processes, and testing methods. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent
  • Experience in mechanical design, fabrication, testing and documentation procedures
  • Ability to work with secure handling of sensitive data and government contracting environments
  • Experience with additive manufacturing and materials testing methods will be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty and engineers to plan and execute technical projects
  • Coordinate lab and field activities including fabrication, testing, and machining
  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, and computer systems into manufacturing processes
  • Contribute to technical proposals, white papers, and project documentation
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals
