Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Specialist to join the Expeditionary Manufacturing and Repair Department. The role focuses on developing materials, fabrication methods, and testing across ceramics, metals, and composites, with DoD SkillBridge participation supported.

This is an on-site position at State College, PA with travel to remote locations. Ideal candidates will have strong machining and fabrication skills, experience with material

Qualifications

  • Experience in machining, fabrication, and material testing.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and engineering drawings.
  • Proven ability to work with a team to plan tasks and manage resources.

Responsibilities

  • Support sample production and process equipment setup.
  • Fabricate, machine, test, and characterize materials for projects.
  • Coordinate with faculty and engineers to define tasks and schedules.
