Kelly Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician – Electrical Assembly to support the electrical assembly, wiring, installation, and testing of large CNC machine tool systems. This position contributes to the complete electrical build process—from initial machine assembly through final testing and completion.
The ideal candidate has experience with electrical assembly, industrial wiring, electrical schematics, and machine systems. This role requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
Perform electrical assembly of machine tool systems from start to finish in accordance with engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and work instructions.
Install and wire electrical components, including:
Control panels
Drives
Motors
Sensors
Feedback devices
Cable systems
Route, terminate, label, and secure wires and cables according to established standards.
Assemble and install printed circuit boards and electronic components as required.
Perform electrical testing, verification, and troubleshooting using equipment such as:
Oscilloscopes
Megohmmeters
Data loggers
Diagnostic equipment
Support feedback device setup and machine electrical calibration activities.
Use computers and software tools for diagnostics, configuration, testing, and documentation.
Follow ENOC procedures and all applicable assembly and manufacturing processes.
Operate material-handling equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and man lifts, in accordance with safety policies and training requirements.
Work under the guidance of senior electricians, supervisors, or engineers as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Support continuous improvement, quality, and production initiatives.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Previous experience in electrical assembly, industrial wiring, machine building, or a similar manufacturing role.
Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and electrical components.
Ability to read and interpret:
Electrical schematics
Wiring diagrams
Assembly drawings
Engineering work instructions
Basic computer and math skills.
Familiarity with personal protective equipment requirements and safe work practices.
Strong teamwork, planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing and machine-building environment.
Ability to distinguish color-coded wiring.
Ability to work overtime and flexible hours as needed to support production schedules.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% as required.
Flexibility to work second shift when needed.
Experience in the machine tool or CNC industry.
Experience wiring or assembling large CNC machines.
Familiarity with machine controls, feedback systems, drives, motors, sensors, and industrial automation.
Experience using electrical test and diagnostic equipment.
Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, or man lifts.
Relevant technical training, certification, or education in electrical technology, industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field.
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, climb ladders, and work at heights for extended periods.
Ability to pull wires and cables through conduits and machine systems.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in and around large machine tools and industrial equipment.
Ability to safely use required hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures.
