Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space seeks a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a diverse team of engineers on the Boost Control Systems (BCS) program, directing design, integration, verification and sustainment of hardware and software for the missile’s boost-phase flight.

You will coordinate recruitment, set work scope, coach staff, assess performance, and ensure solutions meet technical, schedule and cost constraints while interfacing with Navy customers and cross‑functional groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8+ years technical engineering experience or equivalent
• Experience in multiple Systems Engineering domains (e.g. Requirements and Verification, Architecture, and/or Systems Integration)
• Experience leading technical, multi-discipline teams
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required

Our Boost Control Systems (BCS) Team is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a diverse team of engineers. The BCS Team is responsible for the design, development, integration, verification and sustainment of the hardware and software that control the missile’s boost‑phase flight. This position requires substantial coordination across multiple organizations including various design disciplines, flight sciences, FBM Missile SEIT, contracts, F&BO, other organizations within the Propulsion, Structures, Ordnance, & Controls (PSOC) directorate (mechanical, electrical, RF), as well as the Navy customer. Occasional travel will be required.

In this role you will:

• Lead multidisciplinary teams responsible for proposal, technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and overall project execution from RB development through flight test execution and results assessment.

The information below includes the standard job description for this position: Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Materials Science, etc.) and 8+ years technical engineering experience or equivalent job experience
• Experience in multiple Systems Engineering domains (e.g. Requirements and Verification, Architecture, and/or Systems Integration, etc.)
• Experience leading technical, multi-discipline teams
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required

Desired Skills

• Prior experience as a functional manager including executing performance reviews, holding critical conversations, and growing/managing/maintaining employee and team skillsets
• Excellent communication, presentation, and people skills as this position requires frequent briefings to senior leadership as well as the Navy customer
• Experience leading projects to meet customer requirements while meeting cost/schedule/technical requirements, with a fundamental knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques
• Missile or missile weapon system development experience
• Missile system flight test experienceAbility to work across multiple organizations/cultures
• Knowledge of and experience with Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Reentry Systems architectures, processes and products
• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $145100.00 - $269500.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
