Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Sr. to focus on propulsion hardware, manufacturing processes, and requalification efforts. You will collaborate with the Propulsion IPT and partners to deliver robust mechanical systems for FBM.

A strong design background and clear communication are essential. The role requires a bachelor’s in a related field, exposure to propulsion or manufacturing, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Exposure to engineering project management, propulsion rocketry, manufacturing, or energetics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
  • Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
  • Collaborates with partners (customer and subcontractor) and communicates effectively to support propulsion hardware initiatives.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline - Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study
  • Any combination of exposure to: engineering project management, propulsion rocketry, manufacturing, and/or energetics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Desired Skills
  • Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience
  • Experience with FBM processes and products
  • Hardware experience including, analysis, assembly, integration, and test
  • Experience with EVM and developing Basis of Estimates, Technical Evaluations, and SSOWs
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00 At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
