Job summary

The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost.

This position is for a Mechanical Engineer focused on propulsion hardware that collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. The IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of propulsion hardware within the subsystem.

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with manufacturing of energetic materials or other materials
  • Desire and ability to own technical challenges through solutions
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • Any combination of experience in:
  • Supplier Management
  • technical evaluations
  • mechanical design
  • Experience with CAD software such as CERO

  • Experience with FBM processes and products

  • Experience with engineering principles of solid propellant rocket motors or generators
  • Hardware experience including, design, analysis, assembly, integration, and test
  • Experience using EPDM Windchill, SAP, CREO, and design tools
  • Experience working with procurement and outside suppliers
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, etc)
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience
  • Experience with FBM processes and products
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing

  • Risk and opportunity experience with an understanding of continuous improvement concepts
  • Experience in proposal development: Basis of Estimate (BOE), Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM), & Statement of Work (SOW) generation
  • Experience in gas/fluid dynamics or energetics/propellants
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiative
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $65500.00 - $121700.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
