Job summary

L3Harris Technologies seeks a Manager, Mechanical Engineering in Salt Lake City to lead the Environmental Analysis Team within Mechanical Engineering. You will guide analysts in thermal, structural, shock, vibration, and environmental work supporting ruggedized hardware, with hands-on involvement in methods development and process improvement.

The role translates goals into plans, aligns staffing to priorities, and ensures timely, rigorous analytical products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 9+ years of experience, or a related combination.
• Leadership experience including people management, workload planning and coaching.
• Strong background in thermal and structural analysis for mechanical or electro-mechanical hardware.
• Ability to influence decisions across design, manufacturing, quality, and program leadership.
• Experience using commercial analysis tools for FEA and thermal modeling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of analysts across multiple programs.
• Allocate resources to proposals, development, qualification, production support, and sustainment.
• Provide technical direction for thermal, structural, vibration, shock, and environmental analyses.
• Drive correlation between analysis, test, and field data to improve models and reliability.
• Collaborate with systems, electrical, manufacturing, quality, test, and program teams to resolve issues.
• Establish and improve standard work for planning, peer reviews, and reporting.
• Support proposals, basis-of-estimate, risk assessments, and customer presentations.
• Hire, onboard, mentor, and assess team members with performance plans.
• Champion continuous improvement and automation to reduce cycle time.
• Monitor tool and lab capability needs and recommend investments.
• Promote accountability, collaboration, and engineering excellence with urgency.
