Job Description

Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems seeks a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 located in Roy, Utah. This dual‑hat position requires the candidate to perform functional management activities (20% of the time) and program responsibilities (80% of the time). The role supports SDS programs as an engineer within the same function and drives execution across multiple organizations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform functional management activities up to 20% of the time.
  • Support SDS programs as an engineer, focusing on requirements generation, conceptual/detail design, design reviews, and testing.
  • Lead technical execution across multiple organizations.
  • Drive program performance against schedule.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and at least 8 years of related experience, or Master’s Degree and at least 6 years of experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of mechanical engineering development experience for aircraft/aerospace programs, including requirements generation, design, and testing.
  • Experience with requirements analysis, trade studies, SERD generation, acquisition, test, and validation.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application, and ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval.
Nice to Have
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite (Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • 1+ year of leading a project or driving performance against schedule.
  • Proficient with 3D/2D CAD in NX.
  • Proficiency with PDM and/or CPLM.
  • Experience with GD&T and ASME Y14.5‑2009.
  • Experience working with specialty engineering stakeholders (PM&P, Safety, Human Factors).
  • Experience leading a team of engineers.
  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience and certification.
  • Hands‑on experience in fabrication, assembly, and measurement.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Compensation

Primary level salary range: $126,600.00 – $189,800.00. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and, for senior positions, long‑term incentives.

Work Schedule

Standard work schedule is a 9/80 (nine‑hour days Monday through Thursday, every other Friday off).
