Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Roy, UT is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 to support Strategic Deterrent Systems Engineering & Manufacturing. This role involves the oversight of mechanical designs and management of a functional homeroom.

Description

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 in Roy, UT supporting Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Engineering & Manufacturing.

What You’ll Get To Do

Functional homeroom management: 20%. Guidance Computer Mechanical Lead: 80%, overseeing the mechanical design of the Guidance Computer (GC) within the GN&C section of SDS Design Engineering (FS BU).

You’ll Bring These Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree in a related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience
  • Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
  • 1–2 years of Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience, demonstrated ability to identify and track program risks and opportunities, and financial proficiency with EVMS (or a similar cost and schedule management system)
  • Minimal experience or general knowledge with the design of Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) for military applications
These Qualifications Would Be Nice To Have
  • Minimum of 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against cost and schedule
  • Experience with the manufacturing of electronic systems
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean, Agile or Six Sigma tools
  • Experience with specific tools available for Subcontract management (Award Fee/incentive fee flow-downs, supplier assessment/evaluation, Corrective Action Requests, Letters of Concern, etc.)
  • Experience in early design phases, including conceptual studies, analysis of alternatives, feasibility studies, or preliminary system‑level design
  • Project / Program Management skills (proposal creation, development and adherence to master plans and schedules, budget tracking, risk and opportunity management)
  • Experience with the application of Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) controls for high‑reliability military applications
  • Experience managing and leading a team of engineers
  • Proficiency with mechanical engineering design and CAD tools like Siemens NX
  • Experience with product lifecycle management tools such as Siemens Teamcenter PLM

Primary Level Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00
