Job summary

X-energy in Gaithersburg/Rockville, MD is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You will support active engineering projects related to reactor design and licensing under guided supervision, contributing to analyses and technical documentation.

This 10-week, on-site internship requires current enrollment in mechanical engineering and familiarity with CAD/FEA tools. Work hours are 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday; compensation is hourly and based on education and experience.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in mechanical engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum one area: mechanical design, CAD, thermodynamics, or FEA.
• Hands-on hardware or manufacturing exposure in a production environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support active engineering projects and analyses to advance reactor design and licensing.
• Assist with day-to-day technical and operational needs of the team.
• Help develop reports, technical docs, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
