Job summary

X-energy LLC is seeking interns in civil/structural engineering to support projects related to reactor design and licensing. Under guided supervision, you will assist with analyses, data gathering, and documentation.

Location: Gaithersburg, MD. Fully on-site, 5 days per week. Program length: 10 weeks (June–August 2027). Hours: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET. Applicants should be enrolled in or recently completed a related degree and submit at least one letter of recommendation.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a civil/structural/architectural engineering degree.
• Academic or hands-on knowledge in design, analysis, and drafting concepts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic engineering calculations.
• Curiosity, initiative and collaboration mindset.

Responsibilities

• Support active engineering projects and analyses within your area of study.
• Assist with day-to-day technical and operational needs of the team.
• Conduct research, gather data, and synthesize findings for design efforts.
• Help prepare reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders.
• Organize and maintain project files and records for traceability.
• Participate in design reviews and team meetings with ideas and questions.
