Job summary

X-energy LLC is seeking interns for a Summer 2027 program in Gaithersburg, MD. You will support active engineering projects related to reactor design and licensing, assist with day-to-day needs, and contribute to technical analyses under guidance.

The role emphasizes hands-on hardware exposure, CAD/PLM work, and collaboration with engineers and scientists. The 10-week, on-site schedule runs June–August 2027, with standard 8:00 AM–5:00 PM hours.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in - or recent completion of - a degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field.
• Experience with CAD and PLM software is preferred.
• Hands-on hardware development in a production environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support active engineering projects and analyses within your area of study.
• Assist with day-to-day technical and operational needs of your team.
• Conduct research, gather technical data, and synthesize findings to inform design initiatives.
• Help develop reports, technical documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
• Organize and maintain project files, technical records, and documentation for traceability and quality.
• Participate in team meetings, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions.
