Job summary

RTX Collins Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Uniontown, OH. You will support the full lifecycle of aerospace components, from conceptual design through certification and ongoing product support, contributing to water heaters, valves, and de-icers.

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related STEM. CAD, simulation, and composites experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related STEM major and actively enrolled through the internship/co-op session.
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist throughout the lifecycle of aerospace components from concept to certification and support.
• Contribute to design of water heaters, high‑performance tanks, valves, and de-icers.
• Support development of pneumatic valves and de-icing solutions for ice protection.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on CAD, simulations, and testing.

What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace, you will assist throughout the entire lifecycle of aerospace components, from conceptual design through to certification and ongoing product support. Your expertise will be pivotal in crafting advanced solutions for:

• Water heaters and freeze protection systems
• High-performance water tanks and heated tubes
• Precision-engineered valves, faucets, and drain masts
• Pneumatic valves and de-icers for ice protection
• Elastomers and heated composites tailored for aerospace applications

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with CAD software, simulation tools, and/or composites
• Experience with the design and development of aerospace systems, particularly Potable Water and Ice Protection systems
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to innovation
• Experience with all phases of the product lifecycle, from initial concept to certification and beyond

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
