RTX Collins Aerospace is seeking a manufacturing engineer intern who will apply engineering knowledge to solve complex manufacturing problems and provide data-driven conclusions for the manufacture of electrical/mechanical pressure sensing devices.

This is an onsite role in Burnsville, MN, collaborating with manufacturing engineers, production leaders, maintenance, purchasing, quality, operators, design engineers and program management.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related STEM major and enrolled through the internship/co-op period.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or Creo.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience with designing and analyzing experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain production documentation on each process, including manufacturing documents and production process routings.
  • Develop and implement cost savings projects, new technology, new materials, new products and processes.
  • Reduce scrap, rework and repair.
  • Identify common defects and issues for assigned processes and learn mitigations.
  • Provide recommendations on process efficiency, safety, production flow and sequencing of operations.

Collins Aerospace is seeking a manufacturing engineer intern who can creatively apply engineering knowledge to efficiently solve complex manufacturing problems and make sound and rationale data oriented technical conclusions for the manufacture of electrical/mechanical pressure sensing devices. You will interface with other manufacturing engineers, production leaders, maintenance, purchasing, quality, production operators, design engineers and program management. The challenges and opportunities are unlimited for this position. This is an onsite role that will put you right were the action is!

What You Will Do:
  • Maintain production documentation on each process, including manufacturing documents and production process routings.
  • Develop and implement cost savings projects, new technology, new materials, new products and processes.

  • Become proficient identifying common defects and issues for assigned processes and learn the proper mitigations for those defects and issues.
  • Provide recommendations on process efficiency, safety, production flow and sequencing of operations.
What You Will Learn:
  • Learn the operation and programming of all assigned equipment.
  • Become proficient on manufacturing software such as SAP and Creo.
  • Learn to use the appropriate metrology tools required by assigned processes.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co‑op session.
  • Experience in Solid Works or Creo
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Prior experience with designing and analyzing experiments
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
