Job summary

RTX, as part of Collins Aerospace Mission Systems Strategic Defense Solutions, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to participate in the design, development and test of electronic equipment and integration kits for military aircraft and transportable platforms. You will collaborate with Systems, Electrical, and Manufacturing staff to meet lifecycle requirements.

The role involves design execution, testing, and cross-functional communication, with some travel to support installations and tests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering by start date.
  • Experience with SolidWorks and/or Siemens NX Designer.
  • Possession of an active U.S. Government issued Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in design and development activities, including implementation of specifications and development of performance or maintenance requirements.
  • Learn engineering design processes to contribute to designs for components, parts, subassemblies, and assemblies.
  • Participate in the execution of tests for systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Participate in the analysis of test results in relation to design and test objectives.
  • Evaluate and analyze various mechanical products to determine their cost effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Evaluate installations and recommend design modifications.
  • Communicate effectively in a cross-functional team.
  • Some travel as required to support installation and test events.

What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Engineer at Collins Aerospace Mission Systems Strategic Defense Solutions (SDS), you will participate in the design, development, and test of electronic equipment and integration kits for communication systems on military aircraft and transportable platforms. The selected candidate will learn to work closely with Systems, Electrical, and Manufacturing staff to ensure that defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a product’s lifecycle.

  • Participate in design and development activities, including implementation of specifications and development of performance or maintenance requirements.
  • Learn engineering design processes to contribute to designs for components, parts, subassemblies, and assemblies.
  • Participate in the execution of tests for systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Participate in the analysis of test results in relation to design and test objectives.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering obtained by start date.

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience using SolidWorks and/or Siemens NX Designer
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across departments
  • Possession of an active U.S. Government issued Top Secret clearance

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
