Job summary

Talanto is offering a Mechanical Engineering Intern position in Seattle, WA, for a Summer 2027 program. The internship spans 10–12 weeks with real project work in a full-time in-office setting, collaborating with experienced engineers across hospitality, mixed-use, government, and MEP markets.

Responsibilities include assisting with mechanical system design, engineering analysis, equipment research, and documenting decisions, while staying within budgets and coordinating with multiple teams.

Qualifications

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and/or BIM software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with mechanical system design for projects in accordance with code and standards.
  • Assist with engineering analysis, design, and oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry.
  • Support equipment research and selection for commercially available systems.
  • Help maintain client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation.
  • Coordinate design and scheduling with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical and equipment teams.
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while tracking progress.

What You'll Bring
Required
Education

Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred

Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

State of Washington Salary Range: $22-24 per hour
