Job summary

Otis Service Center in Bloomfield, CT is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern for a paid internship requiring 40 hours per week in the summer and 10–25 hours per week during fall/spring semesters. This hybrid role requires onsite presence at least 60% of the time.

Responsibilities include creating tools and documents for repair and maintenance, coordinating with field personnel and suppliers, data analysis, and potential involvement in product development cycles for elevator systems.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering or related field.
• Interest in design/development type work.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create tools, parts, and technical documents for field repair, installation, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with Field office personnel, Supply Management and suppliers to gather information and set up tests.
• Document, analyze data, and contribute to process improvements.
• Assist in product development cycles to design and test materials for field use.
• Conduct research and performance testing for elevator systems.
• Carry out jobsite testing, surveying, and data collection.
• Set up and maintain mechanical test rigs and data collection equipment.
• Perform basic mechanical design and strength analysis of elevator parts and tools.
