Job summary

Progressive Companies Summer Internship Program is a paid, full-time experience designed to launch your career in Grand Rapids, MI. You’ll take part in hands-on client projects and learn the tools and methods that shape architecture, design, engineering, and construction, guided by mentors in a multi-disciplinary firm setting.

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will design mechanical systems for HVAC and plumbing, prepare design documents with load analyses and equipment sizing, and use

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an ABET/EAC-accredited Mechanical Engineering bachelor’s program.
• At least one year of undergraduate studies completed by Summer 2027.
• Revit experience strongly preferred.
• Basic knowledge of sustainability and trends in design/construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the project team to help meet project schedules and budgets.
• Manage multiple projects in a timely, accurate manner, monitoring progress against project scope and resources.
• Provide drafting services and final engineering documents to Progressive’s standards.
• Assist in preparing building models, contract documents, and load/equipment sizing analyses.
• Check code compliance information as it relates to the discipline and cross-discipline impacts.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, and architects on design changes, scope, schedule, and budget.
• Use Revit, AutoCAD, and BSD Speclink for presentation and production purposes.
