Job summary

Progressive Companies invites a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a paid, full-time summer program in Grand Rapids, MI and Charlotte, NC. You’ll design mechanical systems, participate in project site visits, and learn from mentors in a multi-disciplinary firm setting.

You'll use AutoCAD and Revit to prepare design documents, sizing analyses, and models, while collaborating with project managers, designers, and architects to meet schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering bachelor’s program.
• At least one year of undergraduate studies completed by Summer 2027.
• Prior Revit experience strongly preferred.
• Basic knowledge of sustainability and design/construction trends.
• Strong math, analytical, design and problem-solving skills, and good communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Project, SharePoint, and Teams preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the project team to meet schedules and budgets.
• Manage multiple projects with progress against scope and resources.
• Provide drafting services and final engineering documents to Progressive standards.
• Assist in preparing building models, contract documents, load and sizing analyses.
• Check code compliance related to the discipline.
• Collaborate with managers, designers and architects on changes.
• Use Revit, AutoCAD, and BSD Speclink for presentation and production.
