Job summary

Progressive Companies is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for its Summer Internship Program in Charlotte, NC. You will work with project managers and mechanical engineers to design HVAC and plumbing systems, prepare design documents, and perform sizing analyses using AutoCAD, Revit, and BSD Speclink.

The program features hands-on client projects, mentorship, project site visits, networking opportunities, and education sessions to fuel your career and curiosity.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s degree program.
• At least one year of undergraduate studies completed by Summer 2027.
• Revit experience strongly preferred.
• Basic knowledge of sustainability and trends in design/construction industry.
• Strong math, analytical, design and problem-solving skills, and ability to communicate well.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Project, SharePoint, Teams preferred

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the project team to help meet project schedules and budgets.
• Manage multiple projects in a timely, accurate manner, monitoring progress against project scope and available resources.
• Provide drafting services and final engineering documents consistent with Progressive’s standards.
• Assist in preparing building models, contract documents, and load/equipment sizing analyses.
• Check code compliance information as it relates to the discipline and any effect on other disciplines.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, and architects to understand changes to project design, scope, schedule, and budget.
• Use design software (Revit, AutoCAD, BSD Speclink) for presentation and production
