Job summary

RENK America in Muskegon, MI is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to assist engineers with the design and development of components and sub-systems, focusing on the AVDS Engine up to 1200 hp. The role spans concept design, analysis, detailed drawings, hardware procurement, and test planning for transmissions and turret drive systems.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Mechanical Engineering (jr/sr) with >=3.0 GPA.
• Ability to perform mechanical stress and structural calculations.
• Ability to perform thermal fluids and heat transfer calculations.
• Ability to manage multiple project tasks to deadlines.
• Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance.
• Good written and verbal communications.
• Willing to travel up to 10%.
• Move freely within manufacturing and lab with accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Support development of system, sub-system, and components to meet customer requirements.
• Support development of concepts to meet requirements.
• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and thermal analysis to ensure new designs meet requirements.
• Support the development of test plans to validate new designs.
• Conduct engine and component test activities with lead engineers.
• Conduct failure investigations with lead engineer.
• Support preparation of engineering reports & presentations.
