Job summary

IMEG Corp in Columbus, OH is offering a 10-12 week Summer 2027 Mechanical Intern program. You will work with experienced engineers on analysis, design, and oversight of mechanical systems for commercial buildings, gaining hands-on project support and cross-functional collaboration.

You'll help with budgets, document design decisions, and coordinate with teams across architecture, structures, and equipment suppliers while observing site activities. Prior internship in building design is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Preferred: Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design portions of mechanical systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards
  • Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources
  • Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to final check
  • Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and provide other services required by the contract services agreement

IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Intern in Columbus, OH, to work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting real project work while learning from a collaborative team. You'll support project budgets, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help the team deliver work across industrial, manufacturing, and MEP-focused projects. This role offers exposure to project coordination, documentation, and field observations while building your experience in design consulting.

What You’ll Bring
