Job summary

IMEG, a 100% employee-owned firm, offers a Summer 2027 Internship in Columbus, OH, focused on electrical design for healthcare and MEP projects. The 10-12 week program provides hands-on work with a mentor and real project responsibilities in a collaborative, in-office setting.

You will assist with electrical system design, CAD/BIM tasks, client coordination, and documentation while learning IMEG standards. Sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years toward a BS in Electrical Engineering.
• Familiarity with CAD and/or BIM software.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design of electrical systems per code and IMEG standards.
• Research commercially available equipment and resources.
• Support client relations and maintain project design notebooks.
• Coordinate design/schedule with cross-discipline teams.
• Document design decisions and client instructions while tracking progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy before final check.
• Help prepare and issue addenda information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and support contract services.

What You'll Do

• Assist with the design of electrical systems for projects in accordance with code and IMEG standards.
• Research commercially available equipment and supporting resources.
• Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files.
• Coordinate design and schedule activities with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams.
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check.
• Help prepare and issue addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement.

Required Education And Experience

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required

Skills And Abilities

• Strong interest in design consulting
• Previous exposure to CAD and/or BIM software
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

State of Ohio Salary Range: $22.00/hr–$24.00/hr

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
