Job summary

Vertiv Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the design and documentation of custom busbar systems for critical power infrastructure. You will work with experienced engineers on CAD modeling, BOM creation, and product lifecycle management in an engineered-to-order environment.

You will gain hands-on experience in design reviews, documentation accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Completion of sophomore year or higher.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanical engineers in creating and modifying 3D models, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks.
• Support engineering change requests and drawing revisions.
• Learn and apply company drafting standards and best practices.
• Participate in design reviews and peer review activities.
• Assist with creation and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Support PLM and ERP documentation activities.
• Verify documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve production issues.
• Participate in first-of-a-kind builds and product launches.
• Observe fabrication, assembly, and testing processes to understand manufacturability.
• Document lessons learned and process improvements.
• Participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop tools or documentation to improve efficiency and quality.
• Complete a defined internship project with measurable business impact.
• Attend engineering meetings and present progress updates.
