Job summary

McKinley Architecture and Engineering invites a dedicated student to join our engineering team for the summer as an intern. You will work closely with the mechanical and plumbing teams to provide design input on relevant projects and gain exposure to BIM modeling, building system design, and applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities include assisting with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design, updating drawings and BIM models in Revit, and coordinating with architectural and other

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a 4-year ABET accredited Mechanical Engineering or related program.
• Interest in building systems design and construction.
• Strong CAD skills; Revit preferred but not required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Demonstrated desire to learn and develop technical engineering skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in the design and coordination of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Support the preparation and modification of engineering drawings and BIM models using Revit.
• Participate in coordination efforts with architectural, structural, civil, and other engineering disciplines.
• Assist with engineering calculations, equipment selections, and technical research as directed.
• Support quality control review and project documentation activities.
• Assist with field investigations, site visits, and construction-phase activities when opportunities are available.
• Participate in design team meetings and contribute to project coordination discussions.
• Work effectively to support project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of engineering and project team objectives.
