Lake Superior Consulting in Duluth, MN is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our team at the Duluth office. You will assist with engineering drawings, project documentation, and field activities, gaining exposure to both design and on-site work.

The role welcomes a current Mechanical Engineering student with at least two years completed; design experience and strong MS Office skills are a plus.

Qualifications

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team during the Summer of 2027 based out of our Duluth, MN office.

The Engineering Intern will assist engineers and designers with the development of engineering drawings, project documentation, and other design-related tasks. The position will also provide opportunities to support field activities at project sites, giving the intern exposure to both office-based engineering and hands‑on field work. The intern will work alongside experienced professionals to learn engineering practices, company procedures, and the processes involved in completing projects from design through implementation.

Responsibilities:

Assist engineers and designers with the development and revision of engineering drawings using AutoCAD.

Prepare drawings and layouts based on engineering designs, project requirements, and established standards.

Assist with project documentation, drawing organization, and other engineering deliverables.

Support field activities at pipeline and other project facilities, including equipment identification, tagging, and documentation.

Travel to project sites as required , including field assignments of up to two consecutive weeks.

Coordinate with engineering and design teams to incorporate project information and field findings into drawings and documentation.

Learn and apply company and client standards, procedures, and engineering practices.

Position Requirements:

Physical Requirements and Demands:

Frequent periods of standing for long periods .

Occasional lifting in up to 50lbs.

Lake Superior Consulting offers a competitive compensation package. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated range for this position is $22.00 – $26.00.
