Job summary

Mercury Systems is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineering Co-op in Huntsville, AL, July–December 2027. You will support mechanical design for electronic modules, subsystems, and rugged server assemblies from concept through production.

You will create 3D models and detailed drawings in SolidWorks, participate in full product lifecycle, and collaborate with Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement teams to validate form, fit, and function.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a university program pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• GPA 3.1 or higher with transcripts available during review.
• Basic understanding of heat transfer and thermal management.
• Experience with 3D CAD tools and SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical design for electronic modules, subsystems, and rack-mounted server hardware.
• Assist with mechanical packaging design, PCB layout, connector selection, cable design, prototype inspection, and ECAD support.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement teams.
• Participate in full product lifecycle from concept through production release.
• Create 3D models and detailed drawings in SolidWorks.
• Contribute to documentation for procurement, assembly, verification, and validation.
• Support environmental testing, inspection reports, and test plan development.
• Help structure Bills of Materials and support ECRs/ECOs.
• Assist with procuring prototype materials to validate form, fit, and function.
• Communicate design concepts and documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
