Mercury Systems is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Co-op to support the design and integration of electronic modules and rugged server assemblies from concept through production. You will work on mechanical packaging, 3D CAD, and cross‑functional collaboration in Huntsville, AL.

The role runs July through December 2027, requiring enrollment in a mechanical engineering program with a minimum 3.1 GPA and solid understanding of heat transfer and manufacturing methods.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a university program pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical discipline
• Minimum GPA 3.1; transcripts requested during review
• Basic understanding of heat transfer and thermal management principles
• Familiarity with manufacturing methods, including additive manufacturing
• Experience with 3D CAD tools
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical design for electronic modules, subsystems, and rack-mounted server hardware
• Assist with mechanical packaging design, PCB layout, connector selection, cable and label design, prototype inspection and assembly, ECAD support
• Collaborate daily with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement
• Participate in full product lifecycle from concept to production release
• Create and maintain 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks
• Contribute to procurement, assembly, verification, and validation documentation
• Support environmental testing, inspection reports, and test plan development
• Help structure Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assist with ECRs/ECOs
• Assist with procuring prototype materials to validate form/fit/function
• Communicate design concepts and technical documentation to stakeholders
