Job summary

Toyota Material Handling North America is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op for 2027 in Muscatine, IA. You will work hands-on in design and testing roles, collaborating with mentors and the procurement team to develop practical solutions.

You'll use Creo CAD, perform root-cause analysis, and contribute to product lifecycle changes. The role emphasizes teamwork, independent initiative, and learning under experienced professionals in a hands-on setting.

Qualifications

• GPA 3.0 or higher required.
• Academic Year: Junior or above (Sophomore accepted with relevant project work).
• Enrolled in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Agricultural Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Determine design direction with a mentor and cross-functional team.
• Apply root-cause analysis (5 whys, Fishbone) to production/warranty issues.
• Develop CAD-based solutions to improve pallet truck life.
• Assist test engineers in creating accelerated life test plans.
• Present solutions and submit changes through the product lifecycle system.

The Role:

We’re seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Co-Opto join our team in 2027! This co-op offers hands‑on experience impacting the daily engineering design and testing that support production. You’ll collaborate with the corporate procurement team, as well as mentors and leadership, building skills that will help launch your career!

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Working with a Mentor and cross-functional team to determine design direction.
• Using Root Cause Analysis tools (5 why, Fishbone diagrams) to analyze failures in production and warranty.
• Development of solutions to improve pallet truck life using CAD and Engineering Analysis.
• Working with Test Engineers to develop test plans for accelerated life testing.
• Presenting solutions to team and submitting changes through product lifecycle system.

What We’re Looking For:

• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Academic Year: Junior or above (Sophomore will be accepted with relevant project work)
• Currently enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering.
• Experience with CAD with Creo preferred.
• Ability to work onsite for the full duration of the co-op at our Muscatine, IA location with the following term options available: Spring, Spring & Summer, Summer, Summer & Fall, or Fall.
