Position Summary Information

SRU invites applications for one full-time tenure-track assistantprofessor position in mechanical engineering starting springsemester 2027. This position will be responsible for teachingundergraduate courses from fundamental engineering courses to upperdivision Mechanical engineering courses including instruction inengineering software packages such as CAD, CAM, MATLAB, Python, andLabview. Additionally, they will be expected to establish aproductive research program that involves undergraduates, activelyparticipate in student advising and prepare students for asuccessful career, and participate in department/universityservice, including maintaining ABET accreditation. QualifiedCandidates have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or relateddiscipline. Candidates will also have a background inmanufacturing, mechatronics, and/or 3-D printing. Preferredcandidates will demonstrate effective use of evidence-basedpedagogy and showcase a research plan accessible to undergraduatestudents.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Candidates whowill attain their PhD prior to the start of the spring 2027semester will be considered.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations.
  • Successful performance in an on-campus interview, includingteaching demonstration is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior Teaching experience in mechanical and fundamentalengineering courses
  • Experience with CAD, CAM, MATLAB, Python, and Labview.
  • Teaching experience or training in upper division mechanicalengineering courses
  • Experience in teaching or training fundamental engineeringcourses
  • Background in manufacturing, mechatronics, and/or 3-DPrinting
  • Effective use of evidence-based teaching practices
  • Research plan accessible to undergraduate students
  • Prior relevant industrial experience and or professionalengineering licensure or progress towards licensure
  • Experience in advising or mentoring students
  • Demonstrated involvement in workplace or community
