Job summary

The Boring Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to drive the autonomous Prufrock machine, a 310-foot, 800,000-pound system with 10,000+ components. You will design subsystems, run hand calculations, and apply CAD to communicate designs for rapid tunnel construction.

Join a team advancing mechatronics concepts, minimizing surface disruption, and enabling scalable underground infrastructure for major projects while collaborating with other engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 1+ years of design, build and testing experience.
• Proficiency using SolidWorks.
• Basic proficiency in machine design.
• Experience creating manufacturing drawings.
• Hands-on hardware experience in fabrication, assembly or testing.

Responsibilities

• Design systems and sub-systems for the boring machine components, support systems and tunnel infrastructure.
• Use hand calculations, FEA and CAD to develop and communicate designs.
• Adhere to project schedules from conception to implementation.
• Communicate schedule changes to stakeholders and dependent teams.
• Evaluate how each design fits into the broader operation and future developments.
