Job Purpose:

The Mechanical Engineer Supervisor will perform complex, non-repetitive, supervisory duties to monitor department performance daily. They will direct all maintenance team members, ensure proper documentation, maintain a safe work environment, oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and modification of facilities and equipment, and work to optimize production efficiency and safety.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Direct training of team members in mechanical repairs of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical equipment.
  2. Assist team members in diagnosing malfunctions and directing repair, dismantling, and installation of machinery.
  3. Interpret company policies and enforce safety regulations.
  4. Suggest improvements to working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency.
  5. Conduct training programs on mechanical equipment.
  6. Analyze, resolve, and recommend repairs and modifications, and assist in problem-solving.
  7. Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders.
  8. Establish or adjust work procedures to meet schedules.
  9. Recommend measures to improve production methods and equipment performance.
  10. Assist in planning, budgeting, and facility modifications, including cost estimates and contract recommendations.
Qualification Requirements:

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of four years of supervisory experience in a related industry.
  • Expert knowledge of mechanical designs, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Ability to resolve problems using theoretical knowledge and critical thinking.
  • Ability to work independently and make critical decisions respecting regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, write, and understand instructions and work orders in English.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required.
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Work with electrical equipment and tools.
Work Environment:
  • Supervise team near moving parts and in outdoor conditions; exposure to humidity, fumes, electrical hazards, vibration.
  • Work may involve stooping, bending, climbing ladders, working at heights up to 130 feet, dark, and confined spaces.
  • Must wear fall protection as necessary.
  • Noise levels may be loud.
Work Hours:

Hours are based on departmental needs.
