SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for User Products (Starshield) to own hardware from concept through production and in-flight operations. The role requires collaboration with electrical teams to achieve high-reliability hardware and will emphasize design-for-manufacturing and tolerance analysis.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical/EM design background and hands-on CAD/FEA experience, with strong communication and developmental initiative.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from design through production and in-flight ops.
• Develop design criteria and drive system-level optimization.
• Iterate designs and analyses for systems trades.
• Drive DFM for elegant, reliable parts and processes.
• Create production drawings with GD&T and perform tolerance analysis.
• Establish lifecycle from supply chain through integration; coordinate with teams.
• Conduct environmental and performance tests to validate designs.
• Own delivery timelines from concept to launch.
• Demonstrate ownership of product outcomes at all stages.
