Job summary

We want you to support the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) D5LE2 Program in the Propulsion, Structures, Ordnance, and Controls (PSOC) team by joining the Structures Mechanical Engineering group as a D5LE2 Structures Subsystem Certified Principle Engineer (CPE). The selected candidate will be involved in overseeing new primary and secondary structure design maturation, fabrication and test campaigns through all phases of the development and production lifecycle. They will be responsible for developing requirements, bringing compliant designs to reviews, into test flights and into long range production efforts, leading a team of strong commodity level CPEs as a consistent and cohesive team, ensuring program Technical Performance Measures (TPM) are met and delivering hardware within the programs cost and schedule constraints. Note: US citizenship and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance is required. As a Subsystem CPE on the FBM Life Extension 2 (LE2) program, you will:

  • Integrate the team of commodity CPE’s through common design methodology
  • Provide technical inputs on the vehicle configuration, structures design, fabrication approaches, test configurations and certifications of hardware against requirements at various maturity levels
  • Collaborate with manufacturing facilities to ensure fabrication and test readiness
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) for full system configurations and test.
  • Provide technical inputs in required data products, proposals, and Technical Interchange Meetings
  • Review structure configuration and compliance against requirements using 3D models, drawings and GD&T
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers throughout build cycle
  • Execute in a fast-paced environment
  • Create and communicate at various program reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, Working Groups, etc.
  • Effectively communicate to various levels of leadership, inclusive of Navy counterparts, both technical and non-technical

Manages the research, planning, design and development of mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Directs application of research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Basic Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Certified Principle Engineer (CPE), or similar (Cognizant Engineer, Responsible Engineer, etc), with direct technical ownership of hardware
  • Relevant education and experience as a Mechanical Engineer, or similar, in a design, manufacturing, production, or related role
  • Proven self-starter with demonstrated capability to proactively work through difficult technical design constraints
  • Ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance
Desired Skills
  • 12+ years of experience designing, fabricating and/or testing composite structure, metallic structure and large assembly structures
  • Demonstrated performance of being part of program development reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)
  • Experience with frequent customer and leadership interface
  • Experience with Model Based Engineering Practices
  • Experience with test planning and execution
  • Project management knowledge with Risks and Opps, Earned Value, schedule inputs, estimating resources
  • Experience with manufacturing and Design for X
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $145100.00 - $269500.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
