Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for the Embedded System Engineering Team on the FBM Life Extension 2 (LE2) program. You will develop and verify system requirements, coordinate verification with the customer, and manage technical data products for major reviews.

The role requires leading teams, strong cross‑functional collaboration, and the ability to obtain and maintain security clearances. This is a full-time on-site position in Colorado.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in systems engineering and related disciplines.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering domains.
  • Demonstrated capability in requirements and/or verification.
  • Experience leading teams in generating technical data products.
  • Experience integrating across functional organizations.
  • Active Secret security clearance; ability to obtain Top Secret clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, verify component-level requirements and document/manage accordingly.
  • Coordinate with customers and other organizations to implement verification analyses and tests.
  • Organize objective evidence creation and documentation for reviews.
  • Organize component-level technical reviews and presentations.
  • Prepare, review and present data products for technical reviews.
  • Mentor the team and guide early-career staff.

As a Systems Engineer, Senior For The Embedded System Engineering Team On The FBM Life Extension 2 (LE2) Program, You Will
  • Develop/analyze/verify component level requirements and document/manage accordingly.
  • Coordinate with the customer and other organizations to implement verification analyses and tests.

  • Organize/coordinate component level technical reviews.
  • Prepare, review and present data products for technical reviews.
  • Mentor the team and provide guidance to early career staff.
Successful Candidates Will
  • Meet all the Basic Qualifications
  • Have an Active Secret Clearance prior to start
  • Have at least 3 years of professional work experience

The information below reflects the standard job description for this position: Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Basic Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Systems Engineering
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrated capability in requirements and/or verification
  • Experience leading teams in generation of technical data products
  • Experience integrating across functional organizations
  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance; US Citizenship required
Desired Skills
  • Experience with DOORS or DOORS Next
  • Experience with, or on, the FBM program, working with the Navy, or Submarine exposure is highly desired
  • Self-starter, able to complete work without appreciable direction
  • MS Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Project
  • Highly effective communication skills, including ability to explain complex concepts, lead reviews, and negotiate requirements
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
