Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Certified Principal Engineer for the D5LE2 Equipment Section. You will develop structures, lead test planning, and drive designs through development and production while coordinating with Navy counterparts and program reviews.

The role requires a Top Secret clearance and hands-on leadership in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include modeling, verification, and collaboration with manufacturing; you will communicate across leadership levels and support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with design/manufacturing experience.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling using Creo/SolidWorks.
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
  • Strong communication and collaboration across teams and reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Own the ES design with system integration, requirements, and verification.
  • Create and develop test plans with IPT involvement.
  • Provide inputs for data products, proposals, and technical meetings.
  • Design 3D models using GD&T and drawings.

We want you to support the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) D5LE2 Program in the Propulsion, Structures, Ordnance, and Controls (PSOC) team by joining the Structures Mechanical Engineering group as the Certified Principle Engineer (CPE) of the D5LE2 Equipment Section.

The selected candidate will be involved in assisting in developing requirements, designing structures components through all phases of the development and production lifecycle, and bring designs, hardware, analysis, and test results through various reviews, into test flights, and on to production.

Note: US citizenship and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance

As the Equipment Section (ES) Certified Priciple Engineer (CPE), you will:
  • Own the comprehensive ES design with deep understanding of the system integration, requirements, and verification of the hardware
  • Create and Develop test plans with appropriate IPT
  • Provide technical inputs in required data products, proposals, and Technical Interchange Meetings
  • Design 3D models utilizing GD&T and drawings
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers throughout build cycle
  • Execute in a fast-paced environment
  • Create and communicate at various program reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, Working Groups, etc.
  • Effectively communicate to various levels of leadership, inclusive of Navy counterparts, both technical and non-technical
Basic Qualifications
  • Relevant experience and education as a Mechanical Engineer in a design role, manufacturing, production, or related role
  • Proven self-starter with demonstrated capability to proactively work through difficult technical design constraints
  • Significant experience in 3D modeling software (Creo, solidworks, etc)
  • Microsoft Office suite of tools (powerpoint, excel, etc)
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
Desired Skills
  • Demonstrated performance of being part of program development reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)
  • Experience as a Certified Principle Engineer (CPE) of similar hardware
  • Experience with frequent customer interface and leadership interface
  • Experience with designing composites
  • Experience with designing metallics
  • Experience with test planning
  • Experience with manufacturing and Design for X
  • Experience with Model Based Engineering Practices
  • Project management knowledge with Risks and Opps, Earned Value, schedule nputs, estimating resources
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00
