Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of related work experience in aerospace/defense/high-reliability industries
• Experience with SolidWorks
• Experience generating engineering drawings and using GD&T
• Familiarity with space hardware considerations
• Mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals
• Ability to travel occasionally based on program needs

Responsibilities

• Own specific mechanical systems and coordinate cross‑team interactions
• Own spacecraft configuration and mechanical architecture from concept through integration
• Operate in a dynamic, fast paced, multidisciplinary environment
• Develop 3D spacecraft structure designs primarily in SolidWorks
• Create manufacturing drawings using GD&T per ASME Y14.5
• Perform first‑order structural analyses and sanity checks for design trades
• Create design review packages typically using PowerPoint
• Create and maintain requirements trace matrices in Excel or Jama
• Create assembly and build documentation
• Present and justify design decisions to internal teams and customers
• Directly assemble prototype hardware in a lab environment
• Follow QA processes in compliance with AS9100
• Interface with customers, subcontractors, and manufacturers
• Make decisions independently with limited oversight
• Develop and track schedules and meet deadlines
• Communicate professionally with teammates and leadership
