Job summary

Charge Robotics in the SF Bay Area is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, test, and iterate on mechanical systems for solar assembly and deployment.

You will work with large electromechanical assemblies, coordinate with other engineers, and help scale our fleet of delivery robots toward field deployments.

Relocation to San Leandro HQ and willingness to travel 10–15% are expected; Onshape CAD experience and a 4-year mechanical engineering degree are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD software, preferably Onshape.
  • Ability to fabricate parts and know when to prototype via a shop.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Excellent written communication.
  • Willing to relocate to SF Bay Area and work from San Leandro HQ (4–5 days/week).
  • Open to 10–15% travel to field sites.
  • Excited to deploy robots on solar farms.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, testing, and iterating on mechanical systems for solar assembly.
  • Tracking, investigating, and resolving hardware issues with robots.
  • Communicating with other engineers to integrate new designs.
  • Playing with some very large mechanisms.
