Job summary

HDR's Building Engineering Services Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design mechanical systems across commercial, institutional, and federal buildings, coordinating with design teams and stakeholders.

You will ensure code compliance, prepare specifications, and support construction administration. This role emphasizes sustainable design and LEED-oriented work, with opportunities to lead projects within HDR's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of the mechanical design team through schematic design development and contract document phase.
• Be responsible for the design of mechanical systems across a variety of building typologies.
• Coordinate meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
• Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule.
• Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review mechanical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
• Write and edit mechanical specifications, selects equipment, mechanical systems and devices.
• Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators or Mechanical CAD Technicians as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.
