Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead the design of mechanical systems for commercial and institutional buildings in Texas. You will coordinate a design team through schematic design and contract documents, ensuring code compliance and timely delivery.

You will collaborate with partners and the Project Manager on site visits, review documents for clashes, and drive selection of equipment and systems while maintaining QA/QC standards and handling RFIs, addenda, and change orders as

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanical system design experience in commercial or institutional buildings.
• Proactive coordination with multiple disciplines and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the mechanical design team through schematic design to contract documents.
• Ensure code compliance through agency reviews and meetings.
• Coordinate workload to deliver documents on schedule.
• Conduct site sessions with Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review mechanical documents for conflicts across disciplines.
• Write and edit mechanical specs; select equipment and systems.
• Manage addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders; incorporate changes into drawings.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• Perform QA/QC on others' work; assist CAD technicians as needed.
• Carry out additional duties as required.
