Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design for commercial and institutional buildings. You’ll coordinate multi-discipline teams, manage schedules, and ensure code compliance across projects.

As part of HDR’s Building Engineering Services, you’ll apply your 10+ years of experience, PE license, and proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Project, and Microsoft Office to deliver high-quality designs that improve energy efficiency and client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in mechanical system design for commercial or institutional buildings.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent.
• Experience with architectural/engineering firms.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical engineers across multi-discipline teams.
• Establish client relations and participate in design and production meetings.
• Lead mechanical work on multiple projects.
• Ensure code compliance through reviews with authorities.
• Conduct design development and contract document sessions at project sites.
• Manage workload to meet project schedules.
• Track project finances and coordinate team efforts within budget.
• Collaborate with Project Manager, Project Architect and others for reviews.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
