Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Regional Engineering team in Pasadena, TX. You will support Sales and Aftermarket by providing application support, drawing office requests, and engineering proposals for mechanical seals.

Responsibilities include reviewing requests, creating GA layouts, using CAD (Solid Edge) for drawings, and coordinating with global offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (highly preferred).
• Minimum 2 years' experience with mechanical seals or rotating equipment.
• Working knowledge of CAD (Solid Edge) and related software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Review and process application requests.
• Prepare detailed drawing office requests and GA drawings.
• Use CAD to create proposal drawings for global offices.
• Follow standard techniques and select products for seals.
• Perform calculations (heat generation, torque, thrust, flow).
• Generate engineering proposals/specifications for standard and custom products.
• Coordinate with Sales to confirm design meets application.
• Record activity in iProjects & Lean Kit; respond to internal customers.
• Provide day-to-day technical support to Regional Sales and Service teams.
• Adhere to John Crane standards and policies.
